Beginning Spanish for Real Estate Professionals

Learn basic conversation, how to ask about finances, terminology about home buying

The Hispanic home-buying population is on the rise in the Denver-metro area. How can you tap this expanding market in 2005?

Learning conversational Spanish developed especially for use in real estate transactions could be the key. After all, the ability to communicate with potential clients is the most important facet of any business transaction.

Spanish for the Real Estate Professional is designed to give agents an overview of the language so they can better serve Hispanic clients. Learn to ask key questions in a homebuying transaction, including those about basic information, housing wants and needs, and finances.

Some of the topics covered in Spanish for the Real Estate Professional:

Introduction

  • How to introduce yourself and basic greetings
  • Days of the week, numbers, letters, verbs
  • How to make appointments
  • How to ask what a clients wants and needs in a house

Housing Information

  • The verbs "to buy," "to sell," and "to live"
  • How to ask what kind of house, what size, and what location a client needs
  • How many people in the family, where does the client currently live, what school district does the client want to be in

Finances

  • Down payment info
  • Current debt and outstanding bills
  • Monthly income; other income
  • The monthly payment your client can afford

This class features Spanish that is specific to the real estate industry. Besides the language, the course covers key aspects of the Hispanic culture that agents can use to put their clients at ease.

Attendees will get a textbook/workbook that includes a dictionary geared specifically to the real estate industry. CDs will be available for a nominal fee.

The class is taught by Brad Hatfield, a teacher at Dakota Ridge High School who has more than 10 years teaching experience. For the past four years, Hatfield has taught Spanish to specific business industries, agencies and corporations in Denver and New Mexico. He also has sales and marketing backgrounds, which are apparent in the tack he takes in his class.
