Hurricane, shmurricane.........
By Kim Enomoto
Many lives have been turned upside down and inside out in recent weeks as hurricanes swept homes away and destroyed possessions. How blessed are we to have what we have in our business and personal lives? Most of us are intact emotionally and physically; the same cannot be said many people who live in the Gulf Coast.
I’m proud to say I’m a member of an organization that stands up and makes a difference….I’m a member of the human race. People suffer catastrophic losses every day, but to suffer the loss of a home is truly devastating. We as a nation are overcoming many barriers to provide comfort, food, money, time, homes and much, much more for those who lost everything. It is a blessing to give and to be capable of giving in times when you are needed most. So, hurricane, shmurricane…as an organized group, we can overcome all and believe you me, we will!
An organized effort
I’m also proud to be a member of the Aurora Association of REALTORS®. I know that, as an organized effort, members can accomplish a great deal by working together. In the past few months, I’ve been truly delighted to see members stepping up and getting things done. Members have volunteered, committees have been formed, committee members have been investigating, delegating and sorting through issues and events that are important to us all.
For those of you new to our ranks, the Association has committees for Governmental Affairs, PSF, Candidate Interviews, Cultural Diversity, Membership Linkage, Professional Standards, CARHOF and many, many more. I would really enjoy engaging more of our membership actively in these and other areas.
Enhance your career
Members can join AAR activities such as Holiday Luncheon, Affiliate Cookbook sale, New Home Bus Tour and many others to meet fellow members. Getting to know others in the Association and enjoying the wealth of knowledge they possess can enhance your own career. I have learned more things about people’s careers, their concerns, their interests and to whom they are related just by shaking their hand and starting a conversation at the Association. I know this sounds a little ridiculous but ask someone, “Who is the most famous person to which you are related?” and then enjoy their response…you’ll be surprised what you learn!
I’d like you to be an active part of our organization. The Association is always looking for marvelous people, wonderful ideas and your encouragement.
I’ll be calling you because I know you can be counted on to make a difference!
